Macintosh IIcx

Macintosh IIcx

Compared with the Macintosh II, this model moved to a smaller case with three NuBus slots instead of six. The case is seven inches narrower and ten pounds lighter, and a smaller fan makes it quieter. It was Apple's first case designed to stand either horizontally or vertically. Like the Macintosh IIx, it replaced the II's 68020 and 68881 with a 16 MHz 68030 and 68882.
