Xserve RAID

This 3U rack storage array holds 14 hot-swap ATA/100 drive modules, up to about 2.5 TB with 180 GB drives. Two independent RAID controllers each have a 2 Gb Fibre Channel port, which connects to an Xserve through Apple's Fibre Channel PCI card. Apple used cheaper ATA drives instead of Fibre Channel drives. Prices ran from US$5,999 for 720 GB to US$10,999 for 2.5 TB, just over US$4 per gigabyte.
