Privacy policy

What personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

Beetstech (434 Southgate Ct, Chico, CA 95928) runs beetstech.com, our store, repair and buyback services, and the blog. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.

The short version

  • We collect what we need to sell you parts, ship them, repair or buy your devices, and help you.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We share it only with the companies that help us do those things, such as our payment processor and the shipping carriers, and only what they need.
  • Your card details go straight to our payment processor and never reach our servers.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Your account: your name, email address, phone number, organization, saved addresses, profile picture, and your password (stored only in a form that cannot be read back).
  • Your orders: the items, the billing and delivery addresses, your phone number, a PO number, and notes you add.
  • Payments: our payment processor handles your card or PayPal details. For a saved card we keep only its type, its last four digits and its expiry date.
  • Applications and documents: a Protech application and its business license, and tax exemption certificates.
  • Messages: what you send us through the Support Center, the contact form, chat, email or phone, with any files you attach.
  • Repairs and buybacks: your device’s details, such as its serial number, the problem you describe, and our notes. While we work on a device, our staff may be able to see data stored on it.
  • Your choices on the site: stock alerts, Favorites lists and their price drop setting, and blog comments.

Information we collect automatically

  • Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you request. Our servers and security systems record these to run the site, find faults and stop attacks, such as attempts to guess passwords or use stolen cards.
  • Fraud checks: at checkout, our payment processor collects data about your device to check for fraud.
  • Analytics and advertising: Google Analytics and Google Ads, loaded through Google Tag Manager, and Cloudflare Web Analytics measure how visitors use the site and how well our ads work. Google Analytics and Google Ads use cookies for this.

How we use it

  • To take, charge, pack and ship your orders, and to send you order, shipping and account emails.
  • To repair, assess or buy your devices.
  • To answer your messages and help with your orders.
  • To run the features you ask for: your account, stock alerts, price drop emails, Protech pricing and tax exemption.
  • To keep the site and your account secure, and to prevent fraud.
  • To understand how the site is used, and improve it and our ads.
  • To keep the records that the law requires, such as tax records.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the companies that do work for us, and only what each needs for that work:

  • Payments: Braintree, a PayPal service, which also checks payments for fraud; PayPal and Apple, when you pay with them; and Intuit QuickBooks, for invoices.
  • Shipping: USPS and FedEx; ShipStation and Shippo, which make our shipping labels; and FedEx’s address check, which tells us whether an address is a home or a business.
  • Messages and email: Help Scout, which holds our support conversations and runs the chat, and Mailgun, which sends our email.
  • Analytics and advertising: Google, and Cloudflare.
  • Reviews: Google Customer Reviews, only if you choose to take its survey after an order. Google then receives your email address, order number, country and delivery date.
  • Maps: Google Maps, when the map on our contact page loads.
  • Hosting and security: Cloudflare, which delivers the site and protects it from attacks, and Google Cloud, which hosts our servers.

We also share information when the law requires it, for example to answer a subpoena, or to help investigate fraud.

Cookies and storage in your browser

  • Needed for the site: cookies that keep you signed in and keep your cart, and security cookies.
  • Your settings: your light or dark theme choice, kept in your browser.
  • Analytics and advertising: cookies from Google Analytics and Google Ads.
  • Chat and payments: Help Scout’s chat, and our payment processor’s fraud check, store data in your browser too.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. If you block all cookies, you cannot sign in or check out.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is open. We keep order and payment records for as long as the law and our accounting require. We keep repair records to support your repair warranty. Technical logs are kept for a short time, then deleted.

Security

All connections to our site are encrypted (HTTPS). Card details go straight to our payment processor. No way of sending or storing data is fully secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we work to protect your information.

Your choices

  • You can see and change most of your information in My Account.
  • To see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, contact us. We may need to keep some records, such as orders, that the law requires us to keep.
  • You can turn off price drop emails on each Favorites list, and stop a stock alert from its email.
  • To limit Google’s advertising, use Google’s ad settings, or block cookies in your browser.

Depending on where you live, you may have more rights over your personal information. Contact us to use them.
