Parts Testing & Quality Standards

Used Condition

Our used parts are sourced directly from used working computers. While the computers are still whole, we test all the functionality to guarantee that every part is in proper working order. Our process starts out with Apple’s own Apple Service Diagnistic (ASD) software, which contains a series of tests tailored to each Apple model and release. Apple’s software is incredibly thorough, and even verifies the status of sensors that no other software can recognize, but it still is lacking in some ways.

For that reason, each computer undergoes a series of tests devised by our technicians to catch all the loose ends left by ASD. LCD panels are scrutinized, every port is verified working to spec, and stripped screws are disregarded.

Once the testing process is complete, each computer is carefully dissassembled and each part cleaned, marked with our quality control label, and packaged for resale.

New Condition

New condition parts are individually inspected for signs of defects and between 5%-10% are tested to verify the quality of each lot that we receive. Parts with a history of reliability issues have 100% of items tested, as do more complex parts and parts that require more time-consuming installation.

Cosmetic Grading

Our grading criteria is rigorous, meaning the A+ is a real life unicorn, while C’s are noticeably marked up with scratches or minor dents. The grade for top cases and displays simply indicates cosmetic condition, not functionality. If we sell it, it works.

Batteries

Batteries are assigned grades based on the maximum charge the battery will hold in mAh.

Here is the grading scale we use for batteries:

  • A+= 96-100% battery capacity
  • A = 90%-95% battery capacity
  • B = 80%-89% battery capacity
  • C = 70%-79% battery capacity
